Training or Special Skills: Annual training for all Lectors is required before being placed on rotation

The Lector assists by proclaiming readings from Holy Scripture to the gathered faith community during the Eucharistic Celebration of Holy Mass. Holy Scripture is the Word of God presented through and recorded by his faithful followers. The Word is meant to be Proclaimed and comes alive when spoken. The proclamation of Holy Scripture has been an important part of our tradition for nearly two thousand years.

Lectors are scheduled for all Saturday evening and Sunday masses as well as all major feast day celebrations of the Eucharist. They are expected to prepare by practicing their assigned reading prior to Mass and arrive at least 15 minutes before Mass begins. If they cannot proclaim on their scheduled days, they should arrange for a substitute.
